The Northern Appalachian Discovery Museum inspires children and families to discover, play, learn, and grow through immersive experiences that connect nature, science, and imagination. We celebrate the unique environment and culture of the Northern Appalachian region while fostering curiosity, creativity, and conservation for future generations.
Our mission is to inspire wonder, creativity, and care for the natural world through hands-on exhibits, imaginative play, and community engagement.
We are here to serve an underserved, rural region where opportunities for STEM and cultural exploration are limited. We want to be the place where we can connect kids and families to nature, science, and conservation in ways that feel magical and memorable. We want to be a center of education, growth, and community pride for our local areas.
Who We Are:
With a background in play theory, we plan on producing immersive exhibits about natural resources in our area but with a twist. Visitors will be treated to a place where imagination soars and weaves between the real and the pretend. With indoor and outdoor play, kids of all ages with experience our ecosystem and play in castle inspired runes and playsets. Our focus is one creating a place full of wonder and nature, where we can host school trips, workshops, and family events on STEAM and conservation programs through our exhibits.
